Mount Hermon School (founded in the year 1895) is considered as the best co-educational Christian residential school in the town of Darjeeling, in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is picturesquely located in the lush green hill at North Point, Singamari.
The school adheres to the American Education style, rather than the British style in vogue with the other schools of the area. It is affiliated to the ICSE and ISC board of education, headquarters Delhi. Mount Hermon offers courses in Science, Humanities and Commerce at +2 level.

Mount Hermon School seeks to prepare a student not merely to pass examinations or enter a profession, but to go out into the world equipped in body, mind and spirit to lead a full and useful life, satisfying to oneself and a true value to the community and country, to man and to GOD:

School Campus
The campus of Mount Hermon School includes a three-storeyed construction of inherent grey stone and armor-plated actual, facing the valley of Kanchenjunga and the external Snows to the North. Extending to the south are two wings, that on the west being the Chapel and the Assembly Hall, while the east wing provides class-rooms, dormitories and staff accommodations.

All the girls are housed in the dormitories in the main building which also contain Infant Department and Junior School classrooms, music room and practice rooms for pianoforte, staff and students dining rooms, Lounge, Library, Craft room and the Administrative offices.

The boys’ accommodations are separate and distant from the girls’ dormitories. Senior boys reside in 'Fernhill' and Middle School in Round Hostel (1977) while the junior boys are accommodated in the Stewart Building (1963), all with resident wardens and/or matrons in charge. All hostels are well equipped with a good filtered water- supply, sewage and various electrical installations. The newly constructed 'Millennium Building' is utilized presently as a multipurpose Building and indoor game practice hall.

The sprawling campus of element Hermon School has cottages providing accommodation to residential staff and guests. Students can take a close look at the nature through nature walks conducted by the teachers in the vast campus.

Leadership Development
Mount Hermon School encourages the quality of Leadership Development amongst Senior and Junior students. School Prefects and J.monitors deliver special responsibility for discipline and organization. All these qualities bestow students with ample of opportunities for the growth and development of initiative and leadership which is said to be a vital feature of good education.

Admission to Class KG to 7
1. Please check the age criteria from the following table for the selection of class.
Class KG: 4+ years as on 28th February of the year of admission
Class 1: 5+ years

2. Registration does not imply admission, which is subject to assessment procedure and availability of seats.

3. Admission will be granted only after clearing the written admission test as well as the interview

4. In case of any discrepancy, regarding information mentioned in the Registration Form, management holds the right to cancel the same as well as the admission of the child.

5. Fees once paid at the time of admission are not refundable, except the security deposit in case of withdrawal

6. The management reserves all rights to change the admission criteria.

7. Please submit the following documents, attested by the parents along with the duly filled registration form a) Copy of the last two years final term reports b) Copy of Birth Certificate c) Transfer Certificate, in original within 15 days from the date of provisional admission d) Four passport-sized coloured photographs of the candidate e) Two passport-sized coloured photographs of the parents / and or local guardian of the candidate.

The 4 Houses
Dewey House > signified by the colour Sky Blue
Reverend Dewey came to India in 1919 and visited Mount Hermon Estate on orders of the Missionary Society, while the school was being built largely using rock mined from the wooded area of the land. He is the most recent of the Four House heroes and was the Principal during 1945-47 and 1951-53. During his stay at Mount Hermon he spoke fondly of the interschool competitions and the development of peace and goodwill in the country.

Fisher House > signified by the colour Yellow
Bishop Fred B. Fisher was born in 1882 in Pennsylvania, USA. Encouraged by Bishop Thoburn, the young Fisher decided to go to India as a missionary. He seemed to me one of the few Christians who walked in fear of the Lord and therefore feared no man. In course of his work, he was instrumental in acquiring the land necessary for the foundation of the institution and gave the school its current name - Mount Hermon School.

Stahl House > signified by the colour Red
Carolyn J. Stahl belonged to the Women’s Foreign Missionary and came to India in 1893 as a member of the Methodist Church in Calcutta. Her tenure as school Principal dates from 1918 to 1929, however she assisted Emma Knowles from as early as 1900. During the financially turbulent period, she persuaded the Government Education Department to offer assistance in the building of a non-conformist educational institute in Darjeeling. She insightfully wrote, “the greatest asset any school can have is the confidence and sympathy of the community it serves”.

Knowles House > signified by the colour Green
Emma Knowles was born in New Jersey in 1840 and she spent thirty five years in India. During the period she founded three schools, Wellesley, Naini Tal and Queen’s Hill for Anglo Indian girls in Darjeeling. Aware of the necessity of a school for the children of her community in Darjeeling, she borrowed money and paid the rent for a building out of her missionary salary and started a school with thirteen pupils. Much later, in the 1920’s when the estate was acquired she received news of the fulfillment of her prayers with great joy.
