Mary Immaculate English Medium School was established in 1962. It exclusively is a Minority Educational Institution within the meaning of section 2 (g) of the National commission for Minority Educational Institutions Act 2004. It is a Christian minority institution, covered under article 30 of the Constitution of India. Lessons on moral principles and conduct are given to students, irrespective of caste or creed. The School is recognized by the Education Department of West Bengal and is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi (School code WB005) for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and the Indian School Certificate (ISC).
Mary Immaculate School is an English Medium School where every effort is made to teach the student to handle English effectively as a written and spoken language. Bengali and Hindi however are compulsory subjects as vernacular in the language scheme of secondary education. To acquire great facility in the study of English, only English should be spoken in the school premises.
Aim of the institution
The aim of the institution is to impart a sound value based education by forming in the students’ habit of piety, virtue, discipline and self reliance during the year of their studies, thus enabling them to be dutiful and useful citizens of our motherland, India. We seek to form the students through education, into persons of character, competence, compassion and committed who will foster uprightness in public life.
Being a Catholic institution, all the students must attend classes of Moral Science / Value Education, which deals with moral principles, value and rule of conduct. A student must strive to attain qualities of mind and heart and integrate into his life virtues such as honesty, sincerity, compassion, generosity, love for nature and self reliance.
Students are prepared for Indian School Certificate of Secondary Education Examination and ISC which are held at the end of Class 10 and 12.

Those pupils promoted from UKG may seek admission to class 1 of Mary Immaculate School Berhampore but this section of the school does not guarantee admission to class 1, since it is based purely on merit. Students should obtain 40% marks in all the subjects for promotion.
Parents who seek admission of their children (Transfer cases only) for classes 1 to 7 are requested to submit a written application along with the Progress Report of the child.
Parents/Guardians are asked to fill in the admission forms with the utmost accuracy. No subsequent changes will be permitted. No new admission will be taken in classes 8, 9, 10 and 12.
A candidate who has attended another school cannot be admitted without a transfer certificate from the school he/she last attended. In the case of such Transfer cases it is imperative that the candidate should have studied previously in an English Medium School. Applications of those coming from any school other than an English Medium School will not be entertained. Christian student must also produce a Baptism certificate.
They will be examined in the matter of class immediately below that to which they seek admission. They are required to undergo a written examination in the following subjects:
Class 1 to Class 4 — English and Maths
Class 5 to Class 7 — English, Maths and Science
Admission to ISC (Science Stream only) of Mary Immaculate School requires 80% of marks in Science in the ICSE Examinations. Students of other ICSE Schools (girls only) can apply for admission.

Every pupil attending the school is obliged to take part in the choral singing, drill, games and all the other school activities.
There are four houses each having its own color, Motto, Captain and Vice Captain and is guided by the appointed Councilor. The House system directs all the curricular activities of the school.
