Exynos processor vs snapdragon processor
These days Samsung phones come with either the Samsung Exynos chipset or the Qualcom Snapdragon chipset. Countries like India, Korea and Africa etc get Samsung’s own Exynos processor, while countries like USA, China, Japan etc. get the Qualcom Snapdragon processor. If you compare both processors, the Snapdragon chip outperforms the Exynos chip in almost all categories, be it the battery optimization or the overall performance or the camera optimization. And although it’s a known fact Samsung is not planning to change this trend in the future of using both the Exynos and Qualcom Snapdragon processor.
There are number of reasons why Samsung manufactures majority of its phones using its own processor knowing that Qualcoms Snapdragon processor is superior. Firstly, the Exynos chipset is cheaper to manufacture and as it is Samsung’s own chip, they could make alterations as per requirement. Secondly, the Exynos chips are inferior to Qualcomm chips because Samsung is barred from using some code and processes by Qualcomm.
The latest released Snapdragon chip- the SD 888 in the Samsung S21 has a Antutu benchmark score of about 6,90,000 compared to the lower score of about 6,50,000 of the Exynos 2100 in the same phone from different regions. One of the most important aspect of chip is image signal processing, which basically processes what camera input / output; and the Snapdragon beats the Exynos chip in this perspective. The Snapdragon processor also captures more details of the photograph and has better contrast features.
It should be noted though that the performance of the Exynos processor versus the Snapdragon has significantly improved as compared to last year. Significant improvements in the Exynos processor are expected to be seen the upcoming Samsung phone successors!
